“(y/n) I have something to show you.” You looked up from the ancient Bible you were studying to see that Cas had appeared and was sitting by your feet. He had his head in your lap and was grinning up at you.

“I’m sorry Cas,” you said softly smiling at him, “but I’m busy right now. There’s a lot of research on tablets that needs to be done.”

“It wouldn’t take very long I promise,” he said. “It’s really amazing. And it’s not another dog show or a bee farm. I’m taking a break from those to expand my horizons.”

“Oh just go with him (y/n),” Dean said from the table across the room. “It’s not like much is getting done here anyway.”

“Are you sure?” you asked.

“Go for it,” Sam said as he looked at Castiel, who had taken your hand and was tracing the lines on your palm. “He looks like he could use some fresh air. Besides, we haven’t found the answer to the universe yet and I doubt we will in the time you guys are gone.”

“You heard them, Cas. Let’s go see this amazing place of yours.” He looked up from your hand and smiled as he placed his fingers on your forehead.

When you opened your eyes you couldn’t see much through the darkness. After your eyes adjusted you saw that Cas had brought you to a beach.

“Cas, where are we?”

“A beach in Maldives,” he stated matter-of-factly. “It’s said that Maldives was established by an exiled prince.”

“Well of the places to be exiled, this isn’t that bad,” you said looking at the tropical surroundings. “Is this what you wanted to show me? The Beach?”

“Yes and no. The beach is nice but there’s a certain event that should occur shortly. Until then we wait,” he said, pulling off his jacket and laying it on the sand like a blanket. He then sat down and began trying to build a sandcastle but the sand wouldn’t stick.

“It’s too dry Cas,” you said, looking down at him. “You need a bucket. And water.” Cas simply looked at you then disappeared with a flutter of wings. He was back a second later and was carrying two buckets that were covered in dinosaur cartoons.

“Will these work?” he asked as he handed you the purple dinosaur bucket.

“They’re perfect,” you said smiling as you accepted the bucket. “Now take off your shoes and roll up your pants, we need to get the water.” He did as told and you did the same. You walked into the waves to fill the buckets and went back to sit on Cas’s coat.

“Now we just dump the water out and mix it into the sand.” Cas took the bucket and poured out the water on the dry sand and began mixing, a look of determination on his face.

“What now?” Cas said after he was done swirling the water and sand.

“Get your bucket and fill it with sand,” you said while demonstrating. “Then flip it over, pull the bucket up and ta-da.”

“That simple?” Cas asked with a tilt of his head.

“That simple.” Cas smiled and went to work as you began to dig a moat around your tiny castle.

“(y/n) how does this look?” You looked up to see that, within the five minutes that had passed, Cas had managed to construct an intricate castle that was at least 10 feet wide and 5 feet high. There was even a drawbridge and moat. It made your “castle” look like it was made by a 3 year old.

“Not bad for your first try,” you said laughing. You looked out over the beach when blue light caught your eye. “What’s that?,” you mumbled to yourself.

“It’s starting!” Cas exclaimed as he pulled you up and lead you to the edge of the water. You looked at the waves as more and more blue lights appeared. Within moments the entire beach was lined with blue lights, turning the water into a liquid galaxy.

“It’s beautiful!” you said as the blue lights continued to grow. “What is it?”

“Bioluminescent phytoplankton. Basically plant like creatures that have glowing bodies due to chemical reactions that take place inside them.”

“They’re so pretty,” You said as you knelt down to swirl your hands through the glowing water.

“I wonder if beings that eat the plankton begin to glow themselves,” Cas said as he looked at the glowing water he had in his hands. He then began to slowly raise his hands to his mouth.

“No let’s not do that,” you said as you gently pushed his hands down.

“I suppose the plankton would want to be with the rest of it’s family,” he said as he returned the water. “I shouldn’t disturb such a beautiful occurrence anyways.” He turned to smile at you and held out his hand to you. You took it and together you watched in silence as the water sparkled.

“Do you like it?” Cas asked still looking out over the waves.

“I love it.”

“But not more than you love me right?” he asked, a hint of concern in his voice.

“Of course not Cas,” you said laughing. “Not nearly as much as I love you,” you said as you leaned up to kiss him.

“Even though I’m a little…off?” he asked. You smiled gently at him and ran a hand through his hair.

“You’re not off this is just….a different side of you. You’re just going through your hippie phase,” you said.

“A hippie phase?”

“Yes a hippie phase. It happens to the best of us,” you said pulling him into another kiss.
