“What are you guys doing?” Dean said as he walked over to where you and Cas were sitting in the grass.

“We are building flower crowns Dean” Cas said not looking up from his work as he grabbed a rose from one of the various flower piles that surrounded him.

“Why?”

“Because it’s May Day,” you said looking up to see the unamused look Dean was giving the two of you, “Cas said it’s a holiday that’s celebrated in Europe.”

“It’s a very important holiday Dean,” Cas informed Dean as he began weaving a strand of leaves through his crown, “It marks the beginning of Spring and your ancestors used the day to celebrate and pray to the harvest gods in hopes that it would bring them a plentiful harvest.” Cas then began squinting at his flower piles and suddenly stood up. “I don’t appear to have anything in blue. I will return shortly,” he said and vanished with the sound of fluttering wings.

“(y/n) we don’t have time for this,” Dean said looking down at you, “We have a tablet to decipher and angels and demons after our prophet. This isn’t a time to be playing with flowers.”

“I know Dean….I know. But I can’t help with reading a tablet and if angels and demons show up then I’ll help of course. But Cas needs to be looked after and he wanted to make crowns so we’re making crowns,” you said getting up to face Dean. “He’s only like this because he fixed Sam—“

“You mean after he fixed what he broke in the first place,” Dean interrupted.

“Dean,” you said sighing and taking his hands in yours, “he knew he screwed up when he did that and he fixed it. He just cleaned up his mess like we’ve done plenty of times. But he tried to make it better and fixed Sam, and now he’s like this. And he doesn’t think anything is wrong with him and that means he needs someone to look after him. He’s my best friend Dean, let me take care of him. He’s vulnerable and I don’t want anything to happen to him.” You saw Dean’s expression soften as he saw how worried you were about Cas and he gave you small smile.

“Fine,” he sighed, “But if we get any visitors you better be ready to help with the body count.”

Before you could respond Cas reappeared with another flutter of wings holding several flowers that looked like blue chrysanthemums. He bent down to pick up the crown he’d been working on and laced the flowers amongst the others. Giving a content smile at his handiwork, he went and picked up the crown that was at your feet. He made several adjustments and when he felt it was complete he stood in front of you and Dean.

“Now, I don’t know how much you two know about May Day,” he began, “but there is one very popular tradition that still takes place today. With this tradition you make flower crowns, like (y/n) and I did. The town then votes and elects a May Day Queen. And I have voted that (y/n) be the May Day Queen.  Do you second this Dean?” Cas said looking over at Dean expectantly.

“Oh yeah, yeah. No one deserves to be queen more than (y/n),” he said smiling for the first time in days as he looked at you.

“Good then we’re in agreement. (y/n) you are the May Day Queen, whether you like it or not,” he said placing the crown he made on your head.

“Thank you Cas,” you said laughing as you looked at how happy all this was making him, “But what about that one?” You said gesturing to the crown you had made.

“Ah yes this one,” Cas said holding up the bundle of flowers, “Since you are the queen that would make Dean your king. This isn’t customary but I felt that, as your king, Dean would also be in need of a crown,” he then handed the crown over to you,  “so now is the time for you to bestow the crown upon your king.”

You turned to Dean who went down on one knee and bowed his head.

“Dean I’m putting flowers on you, not knighting you. You don’t need to kneel.”

“Of course I do, this is traditional in regal situations. And becoming a king is way more important than a knight, so this necessitates a bow.”

“He has a point (y/n),” Cas said nodding in agreement.

“Okay then, fine.” You then placed the crown on Dean and as soon as you pulled your hands back he jumped up and pulled you into a kiss.

“Good, you are now both officially the rulers of May Day,” Cas said beaming at you both, “I’m sure I can trust my best friends with this responsibility, yes?”

“Of course Cas, we’ll be the best rulers May Day ever saw,” you said as you pulled him into a hug.

“Hey guys we think we've……” Sam began but stopped as he saw the crowns you and Dean were wearing.

“Wait why are they wearing those? Do we need those? Do they protect you from demons or something?” a very confused and scared Kevin asked looking between Sam, you and Dean.

“What? Kevin no, calm down. Why are you wearing those?”

“Because Sammy,” Dean said holding his head high with his hands on his hips, “I’m the king.”

“Uh okay, well you look ridiculous. You both do.”

“Sam you cannot address them that way, they are your rulers,” Cas explained, “You must address them as Queen (y/n) and King Dean all throughout that which is this, the day of May Day.” Sam then got a very confused look on his face.

“May what?”

Okay so this is supposed to be with metal hospital Cas, when he's all crazy after the tablet breaks and having to hold Sam's hell memories and blah blah blah.

And I realize it's only February but I wanted something with flower crowns and googled and found that people wear them on May Day or whatever. I did minimal googling about it so don't hold me to any of this May Day information.
